Caroline Jay
Ranger has been working as a theatre director in the UK for the past five years. This follows a long career as a professional actress, singer and dancer in London’s West End Musical Theatre, Television and Film. In that time she learned much about and from the world of Theatre and it’s related forms. She values this experience which continues to inform the way she works as a theatre director.
After writing and directing her first musical project, TOP CAT the MUSICAL, which featured Dancing with the Stars, USA’s Derek Hough and Mark Ballas, for Philip McIntyre Entertainments in 2005, CJay was approached by Ben Elton to direct the 2005/6 British Tour of Tonight’s the Night – the Rod Stewart Musical starring Ryan Malloy and Rachel Tucker.In 2008 she was accepted onto the specialist directors course at RADA.CJay trained under acclaimed director Sue Dunderdale and acting tutor Dee Cannon. She was awarded a 1st by RADA for her design for The Waiting Room by Tanika Gupta and her paper on ‘What it is to be an Actor’ based on her study and practical training using the Stanislavski Method.During her training at RADA she assisted Matthew Warchus on Razmina Reza’s The God Of Carnage, starring James Gandolfini, Jeff Daniels, Marcia Gay Haden and Hope Davis, which opened on Broadway at the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre in March 2009.
Her final graduation play The Shape Of Things by Neil Labute transfered from the GBS Theatre RADA to Edinburgh Festival 2009 to 5 star reviews.
